Hello!

I’m Marie (that cute guy is my other half), and this is my website.

I am a stay-at-home mom, and piano is my favorite creative outlet.

I have always loved to play piano. I loved it before I ever started lessons. But as a student, I didn’t always practice what I was assigned. Instead, I would sit down and play what I wanted to play, and ignore what I was supposed to be practicing. My parents could usually tell how I was feeling based on what songs I chose to play.

I began writing music when I was in high school. At that point I had been playing the piano for 6 years and I had been teaching piano lessons for one. I just wanted to see if I could write a song. I never could come up with a title for it. But one person said that it sounded like, “Happy Rain.” My first piece will never be posted for the world to see. It is awful. 🙂 And I am too embarrassed. But it did serve as a starting point. Because, really, I could only go up from there.

A couple years later I tried to write a piece with lyrics. Soon after, I decided that instrumental music was just fine. (Read: My lyrics were appalling.) Music is the language of emotion. It doesn’t have to have words. And I love the magical power that music alone has to convey feeling.

My piano is where the “magic” happens. It was given to me by my husband as a wedding gift. He is so wise. My piano is my sanctuary, my place of escape. It feels my happiness, my sadness, my joy, and disappointment.

I hope you enjoy it here! I am so excited for the journey that this website represents. I don’t think it will ever be “done.” I will add songs as I write them, and upload mp3s as they are recorded.

A special thanks needs to go to my parents and my grandparents, without whom this would never have been possible. And also to my family, who puts up with all the noise and repetitiveness of composition days. (I have to play the songs and parts of the songs A LOT before they are done.) I love them all!
